What does Fire Frog actually do?
Fire-rated penetration sealing, fire collars, fire-rated joint sealing and fire-rated bulkheads, plus inspections and annual surveys, passive fire certification, and rectification of work that does not comply.
What kind of projects do you work on?
Commercial construction: office buildings, apartments and mid-rise residential, townhouse developments, shopping centres and commercial fit-outs, on new builds and existing buildings.
Can you certify the work, or do I need someone else?
We can certify. The QBCC licence is passive fire protection with the fire certifier class, so the same business that installs the work can also issue the certification for it. One contractor, one quote and one point of accountability at handover.
How do you quote a job?
Send through the project name and location, the stage it is at, and what needs sealing or certifying. Drawings or a penetration schedule help if you have them. Larger jobs get a site visit before the price is confirmed.
Can you retrofit fire collars into a building that is already finished?
Yes. Retrofit collars are made for exactly that: a pipe already in place through a wall or slab that was never collared, or was collared with the wrong system. The collar is fitted around the pipe and fixed to the substrate without cutting the service out. It is a large part of the rectification work we do.
A certifier has knocked back the passive fire on our project. Can you fix it?
Yes. We look at what was installed, what the tested system requires, and what it will take to bring it back to compliant, then price the rectification. Where no tested system covers the situation, you get told what will work instead.
How do I know a seal actually complies?
Because of what it was installed to. A firestop product only carries a rating in the exact combination of substrate, service and materials it was tested in, so we install to the manufacturer's tested detail. Each installation is labelled with the system used and the date, so the evidence exists before anyone comes looking for it.
How often does passive fire need to be inspected?
Most commercial buildings carry an ongoing obligation to keep their fire safety measures maintained and to hold evidence of it, and an annual inspection is the usual cycle. What applies to your building depends on its classification and its approved maintenance schedule. Send us the building details and we will tell you what we can cover.

What are your hours?
On site 6:30am to 2:30pm Monday to Thursday, with Friday and weekends by appointment. Enquiries are answered on the next working day.
Are you licensed and insured?
QBCC licence 15054616, passive fire protection, Trade Contractor Licence with the Fire Certifier class. Insurance is $20 million public liability and $10 million professional indemnity, the second of which certification work requires.
