Passive Fire Certification in Brisbane

Fire Frog certifies installed passive fire so a project can demonstrate compliance at handover. The certification is the evidence that what was installed matches a tested system, and it is what the building certifier needs before sign-off.

Fire Frog holds a QBCC trade contractor licence covering passive fire protection, with fire collars, penetrations and joint sealing in the class, and carries the certifier scope on that licence. Certification is the core of the business rather than an add-on to the install.

Certification covers Fire Frog's own installation as a matter of course. It also covers work installed by others. Where that work meets a tested system it can be assessed, recorded and certified. Where it does not, it gets rectified first and then certified, and you are told which of the two you are looking at before anything is priced.

What certification needs is a record: the location of each penetration or joint, the element it passes through, the tested system installed, and the products used. Fire Frog builds that record as the work goes in, so it is ready when the certifier asks for it.

Common questions

Can you certify passive fire that somebody else installed?

Yes, and that is a large share of the work. It is assessed against the tested systems that apply to what is actually there. Where the installation meets a tested system it can be documented and certified. Where it does not, the rectification is scoped and priced first, and certification follows the rectification.

What happens if the work does not meet a tested system?

You get told plainly, with photographs and locations, rather than a conditional sign-off. The rectification is then scoped and priced. Nothing is certified that cannot be stood behind, because the certification sits against a licence.

What do you need to certify a project?

Access to the work, the fire rating required for each element, and whatever record exists of what was installed. Where no record exists, the assessment builds one. The earlier a certifier is involved, the less of the work has to be exposed again later.

Do you certify multi-residential buildings?

Yes. Unit and townhouse developments are a large part of the work, alongside offices, retail and commercial buildings.
