Fire-Rated Penetration Sealing in Brisbane

Fire Frog seals cable and pipe penetrations through fire-rated walls and slabs so the rating of the element carries across the penetration, and the work can be certified.

Every seal is installed to the manufacturer's tested detail for the system in use: the substrate, the thickness of the wall or slab, the service type and diameter, the annular gap, and the depth and method of the seal. Every installation is labelled and recorded, so there is a record of what went in where.

The work covers cable bundles and cable trays through blockwork and concrete, copper and steel pipework, conduit banks, comms and electrical risers, and mixed penetrations where several services share one opening. The system is chosen for the penetration rather than the other way round: fire stop sealant, fire-rated mortar, coated batt, wraps, fire-rated pillows, or a collar where a plastic service is involved.

Most jobs are one of two kinds. A new build where penetrations are sealed as the services go in, or a building near handover where penetrations need bringing up to a tested system before they can be certified.

Common questions

Can a penetration be sealed after the services are already installed?

Yes, and a good share of the work is exactly that. Retrofit sealing is harder than sealing a clean opening because access is tighter and the services are fixed, but there are tested systems for it. What matters is choosing a system rated for the penetration as it actually exists rather than as it was drawn.

What do you need to quote?

The project location and stage, a rough count of the penetrations in scope and the services passing through them, and the wall or slab type. Drawings or a penetration schedule help if you have them.

Do you seal existing penetrations on a project?

Yes. A large part of the work is bringing existing penetrations up to a tested system so they can be certified.
